TELKOM. I would rather use tin cans and strings to make my calls than to open another contract with them

If it were possible to give a negative review I would. I have never had a worse experience with a mobile contract service provider.

Right from the beginning there were problems. I app**** for one of their promotions for R150 a month for 15gigs of data and a mobile router. The problem was the promotion had ended before they called me to set it up but the call center agent assured me that I could still get the deal, so I went for it. When the first payment didn't go off I was told I had to make the payments manually from that point on and there was no other way to set up another debit order. A few months down the line my bills mysteriously got higher and when I inquired the call center agent said that the promotion wasn't being added to my account and so my bills would fluctuate. I got frustrated and decided I wasn't going to call every month to make sure they app**** the discount so I just paid the money. Finally, two years later, when my contract was due to end I requested for it to be cancelled and not renewed. This should be simple enough, just stop the contract, but no, I had to pay a cancellation fee before I could close an expired contract.

My question is, I had a two year contract. That contract is up. Why should I have to pay for something that has expired to be closed?

So more frustrated than I've ever been I walked into a telkom store, filled in the cancellation form and closed the account. There was about R500 outstanding on the account and I paid that about 3 months ago. Now, while I'm away on holiday, I get a "Payment demand notice" email from a debt collection company for R1500 for a telkom account. Where are these people getting these figures from? And for what account when I closed it over 6 months ago?

I have had the absolute worst mobile contract experience and I will, by all means and with every ounce of my being, avoid using any service from Telkom whatsoever!
