TELKOM: I wish there was an alternative

I wish there was an alternative to Telkom for adsl lines.

I've been without internet at home for close to two weeks now. The fault in my area was reported on the the 13th of April with Afrihost. Afrihost logged this with Telkom on the same day and provided me with a reference (28ATK130417). I have an SMS from Telkom, confirming this.

I further tweeted the Telkom account asking for an update. Responses were vague with a dismissive "we are working on it and will get back to you". When I asked what was wrong, I was ignored. I went a step further and used the online chat service on the Telkom website this week. I was told that it would be resolved the next day and the person I was chatting to disabled the chat when I asked about the course of action I could take if it wasnt. I've checked the fault indicator on the website daily, same message.

The only reason I know that the cables in my area were ****** is because an Afrihost rep told me so. Afrihost has provided me with daily upates - even if to say nothing has changed. Telkom on the otherhand has said nothing. Not a tweet. Not an SMS. Not an Email. Instead, I'm given vague answers as if the service was a favour to begin with.

This is very disappointing and disconcerting to say the least.

Should I even bother holding my breath? Will this be resolved any time soon?

Good Day Bronyn and Yazied

Thank you for responding.

Could I kindly get information on how long this will take? It's almost two weeks now and I would like to know how much longer this will take.

Please provide me with that information.

Your assistance is appreciated. I'll await your response.
