Telkom Hostage taking
I app**** for a fibre line with Vumatel with Telkom as my ISP in July 2018. After Vumatel did their installation I received the Telkom router. I was then told by Telkom that I needed to cancel my TIN (ADSL) service, which I did immediately. I was told it would be effected in 30 days. At the end of September I was told the cancellation was not captured and I needed to cancel it again. At the end of October I was again told my cancellation was not effected. I also received an account of over R4,000, which I disputed because the service had not been activated. I cancelled the TIN again and received an email to say the cancellation would be affected on the 12 December 2018. The cancellation was not effected and I was told that this was because there was an billing incident recorded on my account. On the 25 January 2019 I received a call to say my account had been amended and the charges reversed. On the 26 January the services were cancelled, and Telkom confirmed that my services had been cancelled. I paid the revised outstanding account. On the 10 March the services were suddenly reinstated. Telkom told me that I had only cancelled the equipment in December and not the service. I was told they would backdate the cancellation and it would be effected immediately. It still has not been done and Telkom have not released the line to my new ISP. I feel like I my being held hostage by Telkom in trying to cancel my services, which surely must be *******. Please can you provide some assistance. I am at my wits end, and would appreciate any advice that you can give. I have been given the following work order number from Vumatel – ********** 27 – HTELK2176. And the following case number from the Telkom office in Clearwater where I returned the router – ********** 7.
