Telkom holding us ransom

Part 1:

Telkom are holding our family ransom.

For the last few years we have always had a combined ADSL internet service. The ADSL line rental was always supp**** by Telkom and the data bundle by MWeb.

During 2014 a sales representative from Telkom arrived at our house one day offering us a new fibre optic internet service. We agreed to this and signed the application. We later discovered that this was in fact a bogus offer as Telkom later stated they do not offer fibre optic internet in our area. Telkom used our signed application to instead sign us up for a data bundle, something we already had with MWeb. Due to postal strikes and other delays we only came to be aware of this much later. We were therefore paying MWeb and Telkom for a data bundle.

In 2015 we decided to migrate fully to MWeb. This would mean both the ADSL line rental and data bundle would be supp**** by MWeb. We contacted MWeb and processed the application. MWeb later informed us they were not able to provide us with an ADSL line rental because Telkom would not release the line to them. We contacted Telkom asking them to release the line to MWeb and they refused saying we had a contract with them.
