MY EXPERIENCE WITH TELKOM On the 4/1/2019 our landline stopped working. I called from my cellphone to report it and received an sms back immediately saying the fault would be dealt with and I received a ref number 105AWK070119. 10/1/2019 I called to follow up and was told a technician is on his way. 11/1/2019 a technician came, fiddled around, told us they need to put a jumper in the exchange. When he left the ADSL was also off, so now there was no phone AND no internet. I called to report it and was told it will all be fixed on Monday when they fit the jumper. 14/1/2019 phoned and was told that someone is on their way. 15/01/2019 spoke to Provence who said they are still waiting for the part. 16/1/2019 Spoke to Tebego who said he will re-dispatch the technician. 18/1/2019 The excuse today is that there is no cable. 21/1/2019 Spoke to Ngo and was told my account is in arrears, absolute ****, but I paid some more anyway, so now I am in credit. 23/1/2019 Spoke to Martin who said the technician was there but Openserve never delivered the tools so the technician couldn't do the job. Martin escalated the matter and gave me a new reference number ********** . 25/1/2019 Spoke to Shaneez who told me that the cables are not going to be fixed, so we need to order a Fixed Line Lookalike and it will operate with our same phone number and the same package deal that we currently have. The order was placed and I was given an order number ********** 59A. She told me the ADSL would also not be repaired so we should go for fibre. I phoned around and chose to go the fibre route with WebAfrica. I called Telkom again to cancel the Telkom ADSL line as I have had no internet connection since 11th January. I was told that according to the contract I must give 30 days notice. ****** cheek, 30 days notice for a service that Telkom stopped providing and have no intention of restoring. I cancelled the ADSL and was given a reference number ********** 55A. A week went by and no new phone was delivered. On 31/1/2019 I called again to find out how far the order was and was told that there was no order. She said I had cancelled it. I told her I definitely haven't cancelled it and would she please go back in the records and find out who did. I waited and waited, held on for 45 minutes listening to tinny **** music. Eventually the phone just went dead in my ear. She cut me off. At about 2.30 I took my elderly mum off to the Telkom office in Canal Walk to try and sort the mess out. We were helped by one Carlo Roberts who assured us that he would sort it out. We were there for about half an hour and were told that I would receive an sms with a new order number. Needless to say nothing happened, no sms was received. So on 05/02/2019 I called again and spoke to Aroshni who said there is no order. She says we can't order a Fixed Line Lookalike while there is a cancellation on the ADSL line and there is nothing she can do to help. So my poor parents aged 90 and 84 are still without a landline. I tried calling the Canal Walk office to speak to Carlo, but was told I can only leave a message and that Carlo would call me back. Well, I am still waiting......... On 06/02/2019 took my elderly mum off to the Telkom office and we spoke to Adrian Lewis who promised that he will escalate the ADSL cancellation so that the new Fixed Line lookalike can go through. He gave us a new reference number IT Ref: ********** and assured us that it will take 2 days to sort out, however if I hear nothing by Friday I am to come in again. Guess what… we heard not a word, so on Saturday 09/02/2019 I schlepped my elderly parents off to Canal Walk to try and get them a phone. Adrian wasn’t on duty, nor was Carlo. So now we spoke to Grant van Niekerk who says he can see that there is an escalation request, but that he can’t do anything to help. What next! He told us that Adrian would be in at 3pm and that I would hear from him then. Ha, ****** ha!! Promises, promises! Not a word. Here we are now on Monday 11th February still without a phone and no closer to getting one either. What can I do to escalate this? I do not plan to let this matter rest. I am also going to post my ********** tortuous experience all over social media to warn others of the incompetence of TELKOM-HELLKOM.
