Telkom hates pensioners

My mother - who is in her 80s - had constant problems with herTelkom landline not working for a period of around six months (between November and April or so) after repeated attempts to get the line repaired failed, despite technicians coming to check it several times and pronouncing it fixed, I eventually managed to get it sorted out by going to the top level of Telkom management.

Unfortunately, the fixed line only worked for about three weeks before it was cut off, due to non-payment of the bill. Now my question is, how can a company fail so spectacularly at fixing the only means of communication that a frail pensioner has, yet demand that she pay a bill for the six months that she had absolutely no service?

I think it is utterly disgusting that Telkom chooses to act this way. Good customer service should have seen them not only restore her line with no fees attached, but she should have received a major apology too. Instead, they choose to cut her phone off again and once more leave her with no means of communication. She is nearly 83 - what happens if she has a fall, or if someone tries to break into her house - how is she even expected to call for help now?

Clearly, Telkom doesn't care about its residential customers at all, only about the money they expect us to pay for what is perhaps the shoddiest service in the entire country!!

Thank you for the efforts on behalf of my mother - Telkom has not only sorted out the problem that was impacting the line, but also deleted the line rental charges that were being billed for during the time the phone was out of order.
Thanks!
