Telkom - get your house in order
I moved into my current home 6 years ago. Five years ago the prepaid landline which I found in the house was discontinued. I went to the Telkom customer care centre in Tygervalley and was informed that the line was discontinued because the previous owner had outstanding debt with Telkom. The agent did a new application for me in store and the line was transferred into my name.
Last week I discovered that the line was once again discontinued and to my surprise I learnt that there was no record that the line was ever registered in my name. I found this strange as I have spoken with representatives from Telkom on that landline before who asked to speak to me by name. If the line was never in my name, how would they have known who to ask for?
I went into the same customer care centre this morning in Tygervalley and was essentially informed that I needed to apply for a normal fixed line as Telkom no longer does prepaid phones. I have subsequently spoken to two other people via telephone from Telkom and no body is able t tell me why the line was discontinued. I was sent from new services to billing and no one accepts seems to be listening to me.
I am not interested in a fixed line (normal line). The prepaid phone is fine for me as my alarm dials through it. Secondly, I know that Telkom has been having challenges with their new billing system and I have to conclude that it as a result of it that I am now affected. I am disgusted at the level of service and utterly dismayed that I am now expected to pay for something which is not my fault to begin with.
Please get your house in order Telkom.
