Telkom Gateway Store - No concern from Store Supervisor Asrael
On the 27th August 2018 I upgraded my Telkom Mobile Contract at the Gateway Umhlanga Store. The Samsung S9 Device provided with the contract started playing up and I took it into the Gateway Store for evaluation. They confirmed that the battery temperature was high and that it needed to be taken to Samsung for repair, which I did. Samsung then requested a copy of my contract with Telkom showing the IMEI Number of the phone. This was about a month ago.
After 7 store visits and 47 phone calls, 2 emails and 2 watsaps I received no response, not one. I called the Gateway Store on 14 March 2020 and spoke to Asrael, the store supervisor. He told me to call back later. I called back 7 times after 2pm as requested. Twice I was kept waiting on the phone for more than 5 minutes with no one coming back to me and the other 5 calls went to voice mail.
On 16 March 2020 I called again at 11h25 and spoke with Asrael again for 10 minutes and 33 seconds. He said that Telkom had been liquidated and that this was now a privately owned store and that there was nothing he could do. He told me to call Telkom Head Office. I pointed out that in none of my previous visits or calls to the shop was I advised of this. He said that was not his problem and that there was nothing he could do. He on both calls was highly confrontational and disrespectful. I told him I was going to take the matter up with Hello Peter. His response was that I must not threaten him and he put the phone down.
Quite simply, I have had my phone sitting with Samsung for all this time with nothing being done. I have cancelled 6 of my Telkom Contracts, including the Cellular phone contract. I am now going to cancel the last 2 contracts I have as this attitude is absolutely bizarre.
