Telkom Freeme Unlimited advertised falsely
Monday the 9th of October I went to a telkom shop with the intention to sign up for the 100GB day & 100GB night data with the router due to being a data intensive user with Netflix & YouTube.
Once I was in the shop I saw the freeme unlimited deals, so I asked the sales woman if the LIT data of 50GB for streaming can be used via a Hotspot on my phone which will play on my laptop, which my TV is connected to. She said yes, so I decided to pull out double the monthly amount with the thought of airtime, data & a phone is covered with one contract.
All smiles, till I got home & started watching Netflix on my TV via a Hotspot of my telkom Sim, while watching for a while, I decided to go on the telkom app to make sure the LIT data is being used, to my surprise my regular data was depleting.
I phoned telkom & was told the package doesn't allow Hotspot.
Telkom, please explain why the Hotspot is against your policy, no one can abuse the LIT data with the fair usage policy in place, I used about 50GB of data a month with Cell C just to stream Netflix in high definition, for some odd reason we treated like naughty children who must be capped in a corner of 360p & no Hotspot.
Really unhappy I signed this contract, got **** to from the call Centre that I have a 7 day grace period to change my contract.
Telkom if you advertise 50GB FUP on streaming please don't treat us like children, let us choose how to use it, once we pass your limit then we shall face the consequences of 128Kbps throttling.
Regards
