Telkom - ********** *******

This is not a complaint from a person who didn’t give notice of cancellation and still doesn’t understand why the contract continues. My contract (valued at R129 per month), came to an end in March'16. I submitted a cancellation form with supporting docs ********** on 1 April’16; it’s interesting to note that you don’t receive a reference number for cancellations. A debit order for R99 (excludes device which is paid off) went off on 1 May, whether this was correct is debatable, as Telkom could argue that 1 April is not a calendar month for cancellation by May... So I left it.

On the 31st of May an amount for R220.80 was deducted for the same cancelled service. This is a random amount that makes no sense.

On the 2 of June I escalated the issue to a lady name Charlene Mncube at email ********** and received the following message in return:

"Good Evening

I have escalated your cancellation request.

Have a good evening further."

Note: still no reference number? What kind of support service is this???

After all this (with no feedback for close to a month) an amount has been debited from my account for R319 today (not even my specified debit order date). I personally know other people who are experiencing the same issue (of random billing amounts post contract end), and I notice the internet is ablaze with similar concerns.

Best of all, is check out the amounts reflected on the invoices I received each month (they make no sense):

· Period 1 Feb to 29 Feb = R129 (correct)

· Period 1 March to 31 March = R99 (correct, but I cancelled the month before?)

· Period 1 April to 30 April = R626.80 (***????!!!!)

· Period 1 May to 31 May = R505 (Come on guys???!!!!)

The amounts debited don’t even match the invoices?

This is bad account managements, inaccurate billing systems and theft. I have reversed and stopped my debit orders, and will continue to do so until Telkom fixes this problem. Also, they better not have the nerve to charge me for interest for the outstanding amount.

Reviewer Update

Good day

I am currently dealing with Charlene directly. Telkom has just closed out my call, for which I finally got a refernce (number ********** 7), having cancelled the account. However now Telkom is refusing to credit me for the additional amounts debited. I have not made use of the line for some time now, so there shouldnt be an issue with this. If I am unable to come right via Charlene, I will tell my story again and give you the opportunity to respond.

Regards

Andreas
