Telkom ********** overcharge

Telkom is basically *****ing my money. For the past 2 years I have had a contract with Telkom. My contract has always been R239.00. I had not had a problem until I decided to upgrade.

My first problem is that I wanted to upgrade to the iPhone 5s. I was willing to increase my contract to R299 per month for the smart plan 100. However, despite it being advertised in the Telkom brochures. Not 1 store in East London had the phone in stock. I decided to not upgrade my contract but to extend my current contract. It was then that I was contacted by a Telkom online telemarketer. I proceeded to purchase the Huawei P8 lite as I was assured that Telkom only had the iPhone 6 which I could not afford.

I am currently still using my iPhone 4s and have not even opened the huawei I received. It is not the phone I wanted to begin with.

My 2nd problem is by far my biggest issue. Since upgrading to a contract of the same value, I have been excessively charged with Internet bundles I have never purchased! This Is ***** and violates the trust that I have with Telkom. On the first month of my "new" contract I was charged R199 for Recurring Internet bundles that I did not purchase. On the 2nd month I was charged an additional R119 for recurring Internet bundles that I did not purchase. This is theft. I am a student and cannot afford to have this money taken from me.

I am completely disgusted by this. Telkom claims to be South Africa's leading mobile network and yet it can allow this to happen. Telkom has breached the contract terms and violated my trust by deducting money from my account for services I did not agree to.

I am not interested in a refund. I should have a right to terminate this contract on the basis that Telkom was in breach of it. Telkom can keep my money and take back the phone which has not been opened. I do not want to deal with a service provider that I cannot trust.

I have tried to have the matter resolved. I contacted Telkom at the end of May and they told me that they would refund me the amount in 72 working hours. I received a case number: ********** 3.

Today is the 20/06/2016 and I have not received any feedback OR refund. In fact, I received my billing and Telkom has AGAIN deducted a further R119 for an Internet bundle I did not purchase!

I contacted them again on Wednesday the 15/06/2016 and the lady I spoke to said that she will "add a note on to my case and send a direct email asking for people to contact me".

The fact that they have not refunded me is appalling, but the fact that they have not stopped money from going off my account AGAIN is disgusting.

During the time spent waiting for a response from Telkom, I sent messages to their Facebook account. All I got after 2 weeks was apologies and empty promises that someone would contact me. I requested to have my contract terminated. Telkom is ********** and I no longer wish for them to be my service provider.

I hope that this matter can be resolved because I don't know what else to do - no-one is helping me.
