Telkom ********** operations and disregard of loyal client.
In January 2016 I allowed my daughter’s then fiancée (age 35) to purchase a 24 month instalment tablet which he needed for his teaching job - using my land line account number as reference as this promotion had to be ‘linked’ to an existing account. He signed the contract with Telkom – not me – and the monthly debit order went directly to his bank account - as I am unemployed and can’t take on any debt which I made very clear. During 2017 he skipped the country and defaulted on his debit orders which I was then charged for inclusive of heavy penalties which I was then forced to pay in order to keep my land line. The amount was in excess of R1000. Even though I did not sign any contract for this product, could not afford anything except my land line, I was also then charged monthly for this tablet by Telkom and was forced to pay (unfairly) for the rest of the contract period. When the 24-month period for the purchase of this tablet ended in January 2018 I was very, very glad to see the end of it. But Telkom continued to charge me on a monthly basis for this fully paid up tablet even though I phoned the helpline countless times, sent countless stop service emails and filled in countless forms. They just kept adding it to my landline bill every month. Telkom then in it’s ********** wisdom disconnected my perfectly fully paid up landline in April 2018 and I could not accept that – it was incredibly unfair especially due to the fact that I owed them nothing on it – even paid for it all this time even though it was not mine - and thus filled in another form to end my land line service (which stretched over a 12 year plus period) with them. I had no choice and wanted rid of Telkom, a company which has ********** ways shown very clearly in this case. I had billing issues with them before too, but always closed my eyes and paid in order to keep my landline. This time though I had enough. To this day they continue to charge me for both of these services – land line and tablet - which are non-existent. They continue to send me bills compounding this made-up debt and interest thereon. I HAVE NO LAND LINE AND I HAVE NO TABLET. When will it stop? I find this to be ********** to the extreme and wonder how they get away with this time and again. Telkom should be audited by an impartial private company, and its officials charged with ***** and *******ion. I insist on being compensated and refunded for my terrible experience which most probably erroneously black listed me too. This blatant disregard of many laws should be investigated by the Ombudsman as well. Telkom needs competition, they have been a monopoly for too long and thus do whatever they please.
