Telkom ********** Account Debits
Telkom keeps debiting my account yet I do not owe them a single cent. They have tried debiting my account three times in a row since April 2019, and I have been reversing the debits each time.
The initial attempt to debit R60.00 was in April 2019 which I immediately reversed as I was aware that the balance owing to them was less than R60.00 I then received a threatening SMS that I was still owning R55.41 I went into one of their branches in ****arney and they confirmed that the balance owing was R55.41 which I paid. After I paid the balance, Telkom then tried again to debit my account for R205.40 which I reversed. I went into one of their branches at The Glen and they said they are not responsible for account debits and advised me to call their accounts department! When I called the accounts department I was told that each time Telkom debits an account and it's reversed they charge R205 for that. What amazes me is that they tried to debit my account with an incorrect balance as I was only owing them R55.41 and NOT R60.00!! and yet they still want to charge me for an incorrect debit attempt?
Telkom has since May 2019 tried to debit R405.40 not once but twice from my account, which I have had to reverse twice already.
Surely there must be a way to stop this kind of ********** activity from such a big company?
Unfortunately my bank says they can't stop these debits permanently as Telkom might just change the reference number they are using to debit and keep doing the same thing over and over again.
I wonder if anyone has experience the same thing and has perhaps some solution?
Hellopeter please assist.
