Telkom Fibre “Request To Move” Results in Double Charge for 2 locations
I have home fibre from Telkom which I requested to be moved from 1 address to another effective from 1 September 2021. Instead, Telkom opened a new fibre service at my new address and continued to charge me for the old address. I raised this with Telkom on 3 January 2022 after scrutinizing my invoices as I couldn’t understand why my bill has increased so drastically. Telkom confirmed & acknowledged the error on their part & I was assured that 1) I’ll get a credit for the 4 months I paid double 2) The original fibre line account at the old address will be cancelled. As at 1 March 2022, I was credited for only 1 month & Telkom did not in fact cancel the account from the old address but continued to bill me double. I notified Telkom again of this error and was assured again that this will be sorted. This time at least I got confirmation that the old address account was cancelled - though still not credited for the months I paid. Instead, my service was suspended on 1 April 2022 for non payment! On Monday 4 April 2022, when it became clear that my insurance pleas are falling on deaf ears, I reluctantly paid the “outstanding” amount so that the line can be reconnected. I have called about 10x at an average of 1 hour per call. It’s Wednesday 6 April 2022 and I’m still disconnected. I work from home and my primary income is online - my mobile data is taking a beating! I don’t know what to do anymore. I have called, paid more than I should, narrated to a number of call centre agents, requested for management to get back to me & was told they would call me (they didn’t). I’m still offline.
