Telkom Fibre First Time User

My bill seems to be going up every month ever since I signed up for fibre. I chose the R450 25/25 mbs because these day one needs a good fibre line to work at home. I have been a long time Telkom mobile user so I found no problems signing up when the guys came knocking to sign us up for fibre. The service has been great till the bill came. I've noted being charged for calls which I found quite strange since I haven't requested a landline. The next month I saw it again as well as "Airtime transferred" which I didn’t know one could do? I normally use my bank account for that sort of thing. It was getting very concerning since my bill is getting ridiculously high with all these odd charges.

I logged a dispute and informed the agent who called that there were several calls charged to my account as well as the aforementioned airtime purchases happening. I explained I made a mistake of thinking I may have been charged for whatsapp/telegram calls the first time however my smart phone had expired earlier that month so I made no calls and the matter of the aforementioned airtime was puzzling. I requested that she investigate the numbers called that were being charged for and the landline number found on my account as I worked for a UK based telecommunication company and this seemed fami**** and could be a matter of a crossed line. The number was listed to be in use by another user whose account seems to be attached to my bill and all other people she called confirmed it. Which she found pecu**** and recommended that the matter be escalated and gave me a reference number.

A week later I received a text which advised me the dispute had been rejected with a different reference number and that Telkom does not credit customer’s airtime transfers or call charges that has been done if customer is not aware of the transactions and the customer should open a ***** case. I should call to get more information with the 10210 for more information. If this is a matter of suspected ***** one usually has the account escalated through to the ***** department for investigation. Especially if you find highly suspicious activity like a customer calls in to report strange transactions for a service not requested and you find evidence of another person using their account with a different name, different address and they don’t know the individual. The ***** department should get in touch with the customer as soon as possible to prevent further undue cost and to protect the clients private information. Not have them call in a week later and only to be told one can only get in contact with the ***** department unless you have an avadavat. I have changed every password so far yet the matter persists, though I am thankful I never had time to set up a debit order and would advise any prospective customer never set one up with Telkom. I will have to seriously consider my options in future once this contract expires.
