Telkom Fibre and Chat A Waste of time

Been with Telkom over the 9 years I have been back in this country. as the only Fibre provider in my area I was forced to make use of them, at non-competitive rates and (as expected) non-existent customer service. 2 years on and our speed remains worse than ADSL - and they won't come and check it, without me agreeing to a R1500,00 fee. Even though it is their router and all equipment installed is theirs. Added to this, there was an amount of R355,00 unpaid last month (my fault, I think...), however received no SMS warning me they would cut off the service, as has been the case every month. I use this as my reminder to pay - as I am not prepared to set up a debit order with a company like Telkom. So after 9 years of consistent payment they cut me off for R355,00. SO now I have had the utter frustration off trying to talk to someone via Telkom chat - and this is next level in terms of frustration. You wait up to 15 minute for first contact, and then half way through you get cut off with no history retained, and then you have to start the process again (my work internet never drops). I understand this is a monopoly and their service a disgrace, however I am paying R950,00 a month for the privilege. Ridiculous.

Noleen - the billing mishap has been resolved. As it transpired your Fibre line stopped working, contrary to what your first chat agent told me- it had not in fact even been cut off. Wasted 2 hours of my time to resolve an issue that didi not exist, and was not down to me. The underlying issue is the quality of the Fibre. We are getting speeds of 2-3mg on a 20mg line. It's a disgrace. We are paying R900 for 1/5 of the promised speed, and Telkom refuse to deal with it. When we did eventually get a technician to have a look, he confirmed the service was not running as it should and then told us to connect to ADSL. I mean are you people even for real? The solution to my R900 fibre problem is to revert to ADSL. Added to t his, he took my wife's number and said he would call her to arrange a visit, and that was last week. Not a word. Never turned up. As always Telkom continues to astound me. We have effectively paid R20k in Fibre charges for a 5mg service. Your own response is typical. Pass me on to billing when the issue is clearly articulated as being technica;l and an underlying issue with the service itself.
