Telkom

My issue with Telkom Mobile started when I was checking when I am due for an upgrade. I went to the Rosebank store, and I was advised to us a USSD code to check upgrade eligibility, which I did. This around October/November 2019. I was made aware that my upgrade is due in 2021, and that didn't make sense to me because I had my phone contact with Telkom in February 2018.

I received a case number via text message. A consultant from Telkom tried to call me, and I was about to start a meeting. I advised her to call me in 45mins time. That didn't happen. On the very same day, I received an SMS that my case has been resolved.

Second week of February, I then visited the Maponya Mall brunch for an upgrade. I was told my upgrade in due in 2021. They opened another case for me, which took more than 7 working days to be resolved. I was helped by one the ladies to resolve this issue, hoping that this is my last time fighting this issue.

I was able to upgrade to a new device (pro-rata) and things went back to normal. The sales person told me that they will cancelled the contract, and told me that I won't have to pay penalty fees because its their systems fault. At the back of this upgrade, I have a WiFi router contract with Telkom. And my statements/bills are combined for both devices.

All this issues I have raised with them had a case number, which according to their system were all resolved. But that wasn't the case. This them showcases how having a team that is working for the sake of working can be a pain to clients.

I was later made aware that I owe Telkom a Termination Penalty fee of R 11,096.40, which didn't make sense to me. I visited the Telkom Maponya Mall store again to sort this matter out, and I was given 72 hours for it to be resolved. During this process, I made them aware that my WiFi router hasn't been connecting to the internet. And the following day it was blocked. I visited the store again, I was told its because of the credit limit, which was caused by the incorrect filing by their sales person.

I found myself at the Telkom store sorting this out as opposed to doing my work, which brings food to the table.

Later on the very same day, my cellphone number was blocked. This then means I can't make or receive phone calls.

I have spend more than 16 hours at the store trying to sort this issue out. I have lost so many hours in terms of work, I missed a Skype call because of network issues... the list goes on.

Everyone I speak to at Telkom regarding my issue tells me something different. They don't speak the same language when it comes to the processes and procedures that needs to be followed.

I am honestly disappointed by the service I got across all platforms from Telkom.
