Telkom false advertising
I have been a die hard Telkom customer for many years. People have always complained about the service and lack of professionalism but I was happy with my service provider and over looked the little faults as we are all human.
However, 2 weeks ago I finally decided to give in to the numerous amount of emails I've been receiving about migrating my current wifi to Fibre and since I was due for an cell phone upgrade I was killing 2 birds with 1 stone.
Excited to upgrade, I went to your Century City branch (the 1 opposite clicks)
The consultant had no idea what he was doing, but I just went along with the flow.
I enquired about the p40 and watch combo deal, I was told that "the promotion was over", I then decided to take something else (mind you the promo was listed yet again yesterday 23rd August on a Facebook ad)
So I got that out the way, now it was time for the migration. As the consultant hurried back and forth from his colleagues, he informed me that the installation will take place the following Tuesday.
I was told i had to sign on the pad to confirm my upgrade & that's exactly what I did.
Left the store with my new device and I was happy.
The technician came to my house the following week, installed my Fibre and the level of professionalism was astonishing! He was on time, accommodating and extremely well organized.
After 2 days I noticed that my LTE was still active. I messaged the technician and he advised that if it wasn't off I should contact the call center asap.
I tried doing so numerous times, but was told so many different stories its just irritated me.
Today being almost 2 weeks since the fiber was installed, I tried the call center AGAIN. I was told by a guy named Lebo "there's no proof of you wanting to migrate so you'll be responsible for both bills"
Imagine having to pay for 2 wifi connections from the SAME service provider because the consultant employed by Telkom can't do his freaking job.
I was not informed that migration from lte to Fibre was not a thing. The ad as well as the email clearly states "MIGRATE YOUR LTE TO FIBRE FOR R499!
I tried calling again and was told it's not a Telkom mobile issue. I then called the number provided and the consultant told me that the migration was not possible as you can't switch from a mobile LTE contract to Fibre. I WAS NOT TOLD THIS IN STORE!!!
She advised that I cancel the contract on the website to avoid having to pay for both connections. And of course this can only be done with PENALTY FEES for early termination and device fees!
So now I currently have Fibre that is R499 with 3months free subscription (that Im not even banking on as I await the hidden costs) and LTE Broadband of R899.
PLEASE EXPLAIN *** IS GOING ON BECAUSE I'M ABOUT TO GO TO THE STORE TO GET SOME DAMN ANSWERS!
