Telkom failure to communicate and unauthorised debut upon cancellation of services
Telkom migrated us from an ADSL to an LTE service and provided us with a modem. We did not have a choice in this matter as the copper cables in our area were being taken out of service. Subsequently we had slow internet, frequent downtime and poor reception on our phone. I chose to cancel our service (while retaining the sim provided to allow us to keep our “landline” number). When I asked whether any adjustments could be made to improve my service, I was told that as I was not a business client, no further options were available. Telkom not only cancelled ALL services, but has charged an exorbitant amount as the LTE service had been provided for less than 24 months. Despite Telkom only being authorised to deduct a maximum of R1000 from my account, they have taken over R2200 per month from my account at a time when individuals can least afford extra expense. When I have queried this issue, I get an sms advising me that the matter has been resolved and that someone will call me to advise me of the outcome. I have logged a query twice, but no one bothers to contact me. In the meantime, Telkom keeps deducting an excessive and in my opinion unauthorised amount from my account. I have had no income since March and no effort has been made to assist me in an effective way.
