Telkom fails South Africans, especially during lockdown. Unusable LTE.
Telkom is failing all South Africans, especially so during lockdown. Yes we’re all aware of the increase in traffic all ISP’s are facing in these times. But the issues of stagnant LTE speeds have preceded the pandemic; And even the multitude of Seacom line breakages.
I’ve had Telkom’s Uncapped LTE package since it’s inception and speeds delivered degraded monumentally over time. Average speeds fell from the mid 20mbps to a now anemic 1mbps (this with an external Poynting LTE antenna). Telkom’s switch from MTN to Vodacom was detrimental to their already fragile LTE service.
When will ICASA set up regulations to monitor internet speeds? Telkom customers are paying for a service which is not being delivered. Who will hold Telkom accountable for their failures. Where are the consequences?
Does this solely lie on the paying consumer? The ones trying to work from home. The ones who have jobs on the line. Telkom’s lackadaisical approach to customer care only exacerbates the problem.
