Telkom failing to see that Im trying to help them
In store assistants did not impress so I elected to go the online route in applying for a cell phone contract for our son. Capturing went without a hitch and within 20 minutes of logging the application I was called by a lady who kept me on the line for close on 20 minutes with questions around where I work, income etc. I recall at one point she actually said congratulations you have passed the credit vetting. So we started the wait for the phone - she said 7 to 14 days. The next week I got a rather poorly worded sms saying the order was declined during credit vetting. I rep**** to the sms directly to ask with whom I could discuss this as there is to my knowledge nothing that could cause that other than ***** which I reported to the online agent who took down my details. In short my laptop bag (with cheque book and ID) was ****** a couple of years back and the ***** had opened a Vodacom account from which debits were coming to my cheque account. It took months to get this sorted and Vodacom in the process black listed me - - I have in writing their legal department's apology. So I went to the local (Paarl Mall Branch) where I could just as well have asked them to assist me with the blueprints for the next NASA space shuttle. They have no contact with the online side - not allowed to give me the contact details of anyone on that side. What was furthermore almost an insult is that a mr Wynand de Kock (Regional Manager) who was in the shop (at the back) did not think it important enough to try and assist me - - he basically had one of the sales staff give me the email address of the Paarl Mall manager ( who was out at the time) - probably knowing full well that nothing will come of it and just not caring. I've already taken out a contract with another supplier - got the phone the same day - but the point that I was trying to make is that you cannot handle clients this way and give them no way of contacting with you (the online side). At the same time the in-store staff should be trained up and empowered to deal with clients - they are really not doing the brand any favours.
