Telkom failing to port a number

Dear Telkom

I am now at my wits end with trying to get a simple number porting done.

I bought Samsung Galaxy Note 2 on contract with Telkom on 16 April and asked to have my old number ported from FNB while I was in the Telkom store in Claremont, Cape Town. The agent said I had to do it via an SMS and we followed the procedure there and then. Two days passed and nothing happened. I received no communication to alert me to the failure or a problem with the port request. Since then I have phoned Telkom 3 times and made 3 more attempts at the porting. Each time I receive no communication regarding the failure and each time I call I am told something different by Telkom. No-one really seems to know what they are doing. One call center agent even told me I had to go to FNB and have a sim swap done!! The old number has been released by FNB and there is no reason why it cannot be ported. The number I have been given by Telkom ( ********** ) does not work. When I call it I get "Sorry the number you have dialed does not exist."

If this cannot be done I will be forced to return the phone because I cannot change my business phone number. As I understand it, Telkom is legally obliged to do this.

Please will get some to call me who can fix this - hopefully without waiting another two days only to discover nothing has happened.

Please excuse my typos. That is meant to read "Please will you set someone to call me who can fix this." I'd also like to add that I have traveled 3 times to the Telkom store in Claremont to try to sort this out. I feel like I have been messed around too much over this.

It's been 11 days and finally calls to my old number are coming in on my new Telkom phone. No response from Telkom. Don't bother.
