Telkom exploitation, ******ation and maltreatment of a customer
I signed up with Telkom to use their facility to purchase data for my home Wi-Fi since 2012. I started first with 5GB per month then migrated to 5GB + 5GB for day and night respectively per month for R199. In July 2017 Telkom called me and said they wanted to deliver a new HUAWEI LTE CPE B315 Model: B315s-936 to me at no cost to me charge as an old and reliable customer. I obliged and a few days later they delivered the router. In the following month of August of the same year 2017 Telkom advertised the service of 10GB + 10GB option for the same R199 that I was paying for 5GB +5GB. I then went to one of their offices in the Hatfield Mall in Pretoria and asked them to migrate me from 5GB + 5GB to the advertised 10GB +10GB for R199. Unknown to me, one of the workers in the shop, a female opened a new and separate account in my name. When she finished the paper work and was handing over another set of the same HUAWEI router as part of the package, I told her I already had the same router delivered to me by Telkom the previous month. She told me I should take the router and then sell one of them that it selling for R1,400. My suspicion here is that the workers probably receive some cash reward or incentive for registering a new customer, which would have made the girl to open a new account instead of migrating me from 5GB +5GB to 10GB + 10GB for the same amount of R199. I discovered the double charge in November of the same year 2017. Before then Telkom was double debiting my account. I then went to the same Telkom office in Hatfield and asked them to rectify the error. Months passed and they would not. I made uncountable number of trips to the Telkom office for them to correct the anomaly or cancel one of the accounts but they would not. Telkom kept double debiting my bank account and continued the same into the year 2018. Several times the Hatfield office sent me to the Menlyn office, according to them it them that could cancel the double debiting all to no avail. The Menlyn office each time referred me back to the office I opened the account. I called Telkom online numbers many times and spoke to uncountable number of different consultants to take action on the matter. Each time the consultants told me they have uploaded my case and that somebody was going to call me to help initiate the cancellation or migration, but nothing happened till now. I sough assistance from my bank (ABSA) to cancel the debit order so that Telkom would not continue to siphon my money. It was only towards the end of last year 2018 that my bank managed to stop them from further deductions from my account. The irony of it all and the major reason of my review is that Telkom has been threatening and ******ing me saying that I owe them R2097.54 on their Telkom account quoted as ***. I wish to appeal to Hellopeter to let Telkom refund the excess deductions it made in my account from August 2017 till about end of 2018. The extra HUAWEI router the girl gave me is still lying fallow in my study and Telkom is welcome to have it. Telkom is taking advantage of its seeming monopoly of data sales and services to mess people up. I hereby plead with Hellopeter through this review to help get Telkom off my neck and make them payback all the money they deducted wrongly from my account. I appreciate your assistance. Thanks.
