Telkom exorbinate charges but no connection!

Telkom debited my account for R1250.23 on 28 February. Upon enquiry I was told that this was for 8 megabytes of data used on the 22 January. I requested Telkom put me on international roaming as of 21 January but when I arrived in Mauritius I did not have any telecommunications connectivity. I lodge a complaint on Friday 1st March, spoke to Nokululeko and Nhlanhla, I requested for my billing statement and proof of 8 megs of data use. I also asked them how could they charge me when I didn’t have connection as Telkom failed to activate international roaming…no answer. I received an email on 3 March with my itemised billing but no answer regarding the exorbitant data charges (especially since I did not have connectivity). I called Telkom again on 8 March, spoke to Tshepo, he confirmed there was no record of my complaint as the 2 employees I spoke to on 1 March asked me to use their names as a reference numbe. Tshepo gave me a reference number but to date no proof / response from Telkom regarding proof of usage and how they can justify the associated data charges. I have been receiving threatening smses from Telkom almost on a daily basis regarding suspension of my service, handing me over to debt collectors. My question posed to Tshepo was: can you use any service on the mobile If there was no connection? He answered No, no whatsapp, no calls, no sms, no internet – Nothing! I cannot fathom how Telkom can justify the charges to the value of R1250.23 when there was no service / connection. Yes, I did switch on my mobile when I arrived in Mauritius and tried to make a call, the call was not able to go through because Telkom failed to activate international roaming, went straight to voice mail as I and the other person both have Telkom contracts and both requested for International roaming. The call went directly to voicemail. So is Telkom charging me for switching my mobile. Telkom has subsequently suspended my account but continues to debit my account.
