Telkom DSL Router - R999.00 down the drain!

I took out a DSL line with Telkom which was installed at the end of August 2018. I was advsied to purchase a D Link Router for this purpose from Telkom at cost of R999.00 (done on 26/08/2018). At the end of October 2018 Telkom decided to switch all copper line users to LTE function. i am now left with a Router that is off no value to me which cost me R999.00. Due to Telkom's lack of planning and communication i now am at a loss of R999.00 and Telkom refuses to allow a return/ refund on this item. They have given me a new Router and telephone for this LTE package for free however the 2 issues are not related and they would have given me these devices either way. The staff at The Glen branch and their call centre are off no help and give me the run around.
