Telkom Double Charging Clients And Being Uncontactable
I initially had an unlimited internet access, via an LTE WiFi router, contract with Telkom. Since I am an existing customer Telkom contacted me offering me a promotion to migrate to DSL for a very low price. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, this would benefit me financially so I decided that t would be a good option to migrate. At first, they sent me an SMS and an email with the promotion details and an option to reply "YES" for a call back to enquire further, which I did. Days passed and I hadn't yet been contacted so I decided to call them and enquire further about the promotion. When I called them to enquire further, they had said that I do not qualify because there are no longer any available lines in the area and that I will have to wait for fibre to be installed in my area, which was not yet available but is currently in the installation process. So I decided to continue with the contract I already had. Then, Telkom contacted me telephonically offering the same promotion. I had then queried with the consultant with the feedback I had received from the previous call and she had then informed me that there were lines available and asked if I was still interested. I had then agreed because this would lead to me saving R700 with regards to my internet access. The consultant then informed me that once the DSL line was installed the LTE line would be disconnected. A month had passed and the installation had not taken place as yet so I called to check on the reason why and I was informed that there weren't any more routers available and they would log a booking on the system. The installation then took place on the 31st of July 2020 by the contractor. The DSL line was successfully installed but the LTE line was still active so I contacted Telkom to find out what was happening with regards to the migration, for which I had to wait two hours and be bounce around the call centre only to be informed that the line will take 48 hours to migrate and for the order to be complete. After 48 hours had passed both lines were still active so I contacted them once again and was then informed that the consultant who activated the DSL line was supposed to contact them by sending them an email stating that the order was complete and it wasn't done so the consultant I was currently speaking to would complete the email immediately and that I would receive a notification on my phone when it was done, but I received nothing. I continued to wait from Tuesday, the 04th of August until Friday the 7th of August and still failed to receive any notification or correspondence. I then called again and continued to be bounced around the call centre only to be told that the email mentioned above was supposed to be sent by me and then the process could be completed online. I attempted to go online and resolve this but it could not be done. So I contacted them again and nobody knew what was happening. I then decided to go to the store so that this could be resolved once and for all and was told there that they only have certain systems open and that they cannot assist me but they will take down my details and that they will call me so I just need to wait for their call. As it stands, I have been informed that I will most likely have to pay for two separate lines at the end of the month which is completely ridiculous seeing that this is the fault of Telkom's incompetency and everything was done timeously on my part. I have two contracts with Telkom, an internet contract and a cellphone contract, both of which have always been honoured but after this experience, I will not refer Telkom to anybody else because I wouldn't want them to experience the disappointment, frustration and lack of competency that I have experienced in the past month by dealing with Telkom. The standard of service has unfortunately fallen drastically and has lead to me being a very dissatisfied customer due to the very poor after-sales service that I have received from them.
