Telkom doesn't want to cancel my contract

Good day.

I have been trying to cancel my telkom 1tb sim only deal of which it clearly states on the website that it is a month to month deal. Now I am being told that it is a 24 month contract and I will be charged penalty fees. While trying to cancel the sim. I am being sent from pillar to post trying to cancel this contract. Telkom please advice on a way forward
