<p>I wrote this email on 10th October 2016 to the COO of Telkom.</p> <p>"Hi Mr Armstrong,</p> <p>As a last resort I write to you in hope that perhaps someone at Telkom can provide just a small piece of customer service. I have had ongoing issues with my fixed line and subsequent ADSL with your company over numerous years - I have put up with it in the long wait for fibre. ( ********** 383).</p> <p>In August Telkom called to sell me a fibre package - I was impressed just by that sheer factor alone (Ref ********** ). I suppose I shouldn't have expected anything more than that, but did and was excited that I may now enter into the 21st century with regards to connectivity at my home. What a fool I was. I too worked for many years for BT in the UK as part their channel management customer support team so do know about how to deliver a customer experience that actually is a good one.</p> <p>To date - engineers have come and gone (twice on a Sunday - that was impressive) and no fibre. No one calls from Telkom to let you know what is happening, I have now made repeated attempts to get an idea of what the deal is to be told wait for 30 days and I will get an update - really we are not in the dark ages here - what takes 30 days anymore? Today was the last straw. In speaking someone via chat and then phone I got hung up on.I requested to speak to a manager - guess what - after 15 minutes or so on hold - click - hung up on again.</p> <p>Your company must be so frustrating to work for, as it seems the level of ownership and accountability is heading toward zero!</p> <p>I am almost not expecting anyone to reply to this either, but in the hope that their is still someone who does care I will hit send and hold my breath.</p> <p>Regards"</p> <p>It must be an inherent Telkom problem - hope your customers just give up and disappear. Maybe that is what will happen to Telkom eventually ... they just disappear!</p>

Dear Telkom - three days later and still no one has responded. Perfectly cements my statement - they dont want to deal with their customer issues! Even their COO is silent. Good going Brian Armstrong.

So the saga continues. - I received this from Telkom on the 27th October after my second "review"
"Good Day
With regards to your Hello Peter complaint we are currently following up on your order and have sent and escalation to management to assist further. We will advise you on the progress as soon as we receive feedback.
Should you require further assistance please respond to the email."
I responded immediately with further questions and guess what - no one rep**** (8 days ago now). Oh and of course no reply from their COO - he must be a phantom too. Easy to sit behind a desk *****ing customer's money and do nothing! Oh wait - thats the norm for South African parastatals. What happened to Telkom becoming the pride of these? I am embarassed to live in a country that cares nothing for service nor the people that pay their taxes keeping it afloat!

Another five days and still no word from Telkom! Perhaps they are hoping I will just disappear. If anyone actually reads these and feels compelled to resolve my problem then you have my details. I do expect though to not hear anything from Telkom so tomorrow will post this to every national newspaper, social media platforms and see how many other people are in a similar position to me - where Telkom doesnt give a damn!

I cannot believe I am still using HelloPeter to attempt to get Telkom to talk to me- still no fibre - still not one person has called or emailed to explain what is going on. So Mr Sipho Maseko and your R14 million rand annual salary you must work so hard for your money (not). We wonder why our country is teetering on junk status - here is a prime example of why.

Still nothing from Telkom. No updates. No return of your calls or emails. I now also have no internet at all. This is totally ridiculous - how does this company think they are a business?
