Telkom doesnt deliver on their promises
I thought I would give Telkom the benefit of the doubt after the years and years of intermittent and unreliable ADSL connection that I religiously pay for every month, unfortunately. Despite my frustration, I decided to upgrade my line recently to a 24month contract, 10mb line uncapped at R799 per month. The deal included a free modem and LIT box. It is going in for two months now and I have still not received the modem or the LIT box. The Telkom billing department then sends me messages saying I first need to pay a "deposit" of R329 before I can get the LIT box and the modem, yet nowhere in my upgrade was there any mention of a deposit thats required. After trying to query this, the call centre agent informs me that the agent who did the upgrade made a mistake by marking it a month to month contract instead of a 24month contract. What upset me is that the agent then told me it would be easier for me if I just paid the R329 to get the modem and LIT box instead of having Telkom rectify it on their side. I decided to myself that I am willing to pay the R329 to get my new modem and LIT box that was promised to me FOR FREE and then I could always query it afterwards, but that is not how business should be. My mother was sent from pillar to post regarding this amount, we tried to pay it at Telkom and they then sent her to the post office. Both of these places could not accept payment for this as the reference numbers were too long, reference numbers that Telkom themselves sent us. Needless to say, I am continuously disappointed by Telkom. I have been promised a free modem and a free LIT box and I am yet to receive either of these units. Why should I pay for an error made by Telkom? Its absolutely terrible service after I have just signed up a 24 month contract for a better ADSL package.
I am utterly disgusted.
