Telkom does not repairs yet there is a garantee

i Bought a contract Phone with Telkom and within a year the phone just stopped working, when i took it in for repairs i was told that they dont repairs iphones and i must pay money to get my phone back to me unfixed..i wonder what the 12 months garantee covers
