Telkom Does Not Honour Consumer Protection Act Refunds Policy
I purchased the E5573 LTE MiFi on 28 March 2019.
In the weekend that followed, my Dad had advised me that he had an LTE Mifi when he took out a Telkom contract and did not have a need for it. I tested it and it worked.
On 2 April 2019, less than 7 days after my purchase, I went to the Telkom store where I had purchased the Mifi device and requested a refund. I was advised that they do not do refunds. I showed the consultant that the device is still sealed - the box was never opened and even the shrink wrap was still on the box. She asked me to leave and said she will contact me when she spoke to her Manager.
I called today, 8 April 2019, after not having heard from her. She has done nothing about the refund. She says that the device can only be booked in if it was faulty and that it cannot be refunded.
My issue is that there is no signage that items cannot be refunded. The documents I signed do not indicate this. They merely detail what happens if the device if faulty. The device is sealed and in its original packaging. It can easily be resold.
The consultant has now advised me that it was her responsibility to open the device before I left to make certain it was working. This was not done. This is an internal issue that Telkom must take up with that staff member. As a consumer, I should not be inconvenienced. Clearly she is stalling because she know she is in the wrong.
Please can you assist in providing an urgent refund.
