Telkom does not care.

This has to rate as my worst experience ever with a service provider. I had tried to cancel the service by fax in April and that attempt was unsuccessful as the service continued despite the notice to cancel. I placed another notice to cancel my LTE contract with Telkom on the 11/06/2018 using their online platform as advised at a Telkom branch. On the 23rd on June I received a call from a lady named Tholwana from Telkom who I gave the verbal confirmation of the cancellation(a Telkom oddity-you cancel a service online but you have to confirm it verbally). On the 24th of June my sim card which was suspended was unsuspended and activated even though I had cancelled the account online and verbally. On the 11 of July I received a statement from Telkom which I lodged a dispute for as the service should have been cancelled and I should not be billed, in fact Telkom had to credit me as they terminated part of the service before the data was used. Today I received an email with changes to bill limits etc and I had an epiphany to call one of the numbers that I have cancelled only to find that it was active and someone was using that number which is still registered under my name and is on my account. I spent 45 minutes on the first call trying to sort the mess and when I asked the lady assisting me to block the number she advised me that she is unable to do so. I asked to speak to a supervisor and all the supervisors were busy according to her. I asked her to report the ********** activity and she said that she cannot and proceeded to give me a telephone number to report the ********** activity. When I called that number they advised me that they only deal with cable theft and they gave me another number for *****. I tried that number and another few numbers and got nobody to help. There is no accountability and there's no empathy for clients. There's no central place where issues get resolved.

Hi Tumelo, On the 11-06-2018, I used the online portal to cancel your services, my account number is ***. Here are the references given by the system *** : *** *** : ****** : *** On the 23-06-2018 I spoke to Tholwana for confirmation to cancel service. I informed her to terminate all my accounts with Telkom. What concerns me is that after this call with this Telkom employee the service conditions of the *** number changed. For two years I could not buy data or more airtime on my account however after this confirmation to cancel the service someone managed to unsuspend the number and purchase two data bundles on my account. I lodged a dispute for the Telkom bill with Nicholas on 11-07-2018 and received the following reference ***. On the 17th of July 2018 I received an email notifying me of changes on my account. Here’s the email Dear THEOPHILIUS MADIBA Thank you for your continued support. This email serves to inform you of the recent activity for cellphone number *** listed under account number: ***. The Spend Limit for the above mentioned number was successfully adjusted as follows: • Permanent Spend Limit: N/A • Temporary Spend Limit: R0 on the 2018/07/15 Please register or log on MyTelkom to check usage, subscriptions and/or any changes to the user profiles for the cellphone listed under your account. Regards The Telkom Team I then dialed the *** number to check what was happening and to my surprise it rang and someone answered. When I asked this person how is it possible that he has a number registered in my name he simply hung up. I then called Telkom and spent over 45 minutes on the call with Nomandla Qamagu trying to get Telkom to block the service to the *** number. She told me that she can only make a request to cancel the service as only the sales team can block a number. The reference given for the *** number was ***A and for the *** number ***A. I then asked to speak to a supervisor so as to report the ********** activity taking place at my expense and to get an understanding that actions will be taken to root the *******ion out and there was no supervisor available. I asked her for a ***** reporting number and she gave me a ***** line of ***. When I called that number they advised me that they only deal with cable theft and that I should call credit management. After trying several different numbers 10213, *** & 10210 trying to get to credit management or sales to block the number. I ended up speaking to Michelle Dladla who despite my attempt to explain to her that the number in question *** still belonged to me according to Telkom proceeded to tell that number has been reallocated to someone else and that according to her I don’t have an account with Telkom. I told her that I have spent the last hour trying to sort out the morass that has been created with no one accepting accountability or offering closure on the matter. She lacked empathy, didn’t care and I found her to be rude as well. Just as an aside note all these calls were made from a cellphone as I live in an area that doesn’t have telephone lines and hence the LTE contract. I do hope that you will get to bottom of whatever is happening with this account however I believe that more training should be provided to your customer contact staff. From the Telkom store agents to your call center agents, the “I do not care” attitude is quite evident.
