Telkom dissatisfaction
I ordered a Huawei Mate 20 Pro from Telkom online in February 2019. The phone took approximately 3 weeks to be delivered to me.
Upon delivery, it then came to my attention that I had to wait a further 5 working days in order for the device to be activated.
Due to business demands, I visited the local Telkom store to try and speed up the activation process, if it was possible. At the store I was advised to rather take a new contract from the store (as the device would be activated immediately) as I had 7 days to return the device received from the online store, if I was not totally satisfied.
I promptly advised the online store of my intention to return the device and a courier of their choice was sent to collect the device and sim from me. Both the device and sim was still sealed and in original packaging. (has never been opened)
However, almost a year has passed and Telkom has failed to officially cancel the contract. I am promptly debited every month for the amount of R979 for a device and sim that I have returned and do not have. I have made numerous attempts to contact Telkom, personally, telephonically and via email with no resolution. I have records of all correspondence with Telkom and even have proof of collection of the device and sim.
I am using this platform in the hope of getting the attention of Telkom SA to resolve this matter and reimburse me for all debits made on my account for the past 12 months. The amount due to me is approximately R12000.
I have not canceled the debit order as I have other phones on the same account. I was also worried about being falsely blacklisted. I am trusting that this platform will bring about the resolution of this matter as all other attempts with Telkom have failed.
Thank you Mr LL Jacob
