Telkom discriminates against the hard of hearing
Telkom discriminates against persons with hearing disabilities, in that all communications are directed back to their call centre, and the agents then attempt telephonic contact, which is clearly difficult for those of us with hearing disabilities. Secondly, because of this short-sighted and insensitive policy, I have not been able to conclude application for an uncapped LTE account. I was one of the early birds to apply for the service in Simon's Town and was informed by email that I qualified but was then required to conclude the process per telephone. The agent and I could not understand one another. I explained the problem and requested communication via email but nothing has been forthcoming, other than several more attempts to phone me! Here, in the form of a data service, Telkom presents persons with hearing difficulties with a wonderful means of communication that does not require voice communications and yet they deny access to it by their discriminatory practices. Now, using \My Telkom\", I have lodged a dispute over non-reflection of my most recent payment and the response of the Web site is that a call centre agent will contact me! There is no way to fix this."
