Telkom deliberately makes you wait two months to cancel your account because it's the only way they can still make money

In September 2019 I signed up for a Telkom 4mbps uncapped line because I needed the internet for work. I was assured that the contract I took with them was month to month and that I can "cancel at any time". But that's a lie.

The truth is that Telkom will take two months after the request to cancel before you can even hope to have the service cancelled. Telkom will deliberately take ages to cancel your account with them because as long as your account is not yet cancelled, they assume they can just bill you for it.

See, the thing is, I think the top brass at Telkom knows their business is ****, old, outdated, dying, use whatever descriptor you like as long as it's negative. So they invent rules like this because its the only way they can make money. They are even more predatory than a multi-level marketing "business". I would wager that those snake oil salesmen and women have a more legitimate claim to the word "business" than Telkom has.

Do not ever give Telkom a reason to bill you. Don't open an account with them, don't do any business with them because they will make your life worse. It is better to be a Luddite without access to the internet than to have to get it through Telkom.

And don't even get me started on their customer service. You are kept on hold forever, with the worst music in the world playing and the same boring information being played on a loop. And god forbid you call the wrong number. Telkom, the telecommunications company, has not yet heard of transferring a call to the right department. They tell you to call another number, and then you have to sit on hold forever again.

They don't answer emails, they hardly answer calls; literally the only reason I'm on Hello Peter talking about this is that I have run out of options going through their official channels.
