Telkom deleted my account by mistake (admitted their fault) - no help in getting it sorted out

On Friday 24 May, I called technical support t 07:30 as my ADSL was not working, but my phone line was. I was told to call accounts department at 08:00 as my account showed as suspended! So, at 08:00 I called accounts, and 45 minutes later was told to call technical again and that there was NO suspension on my account. Technical in turn told me to call accounts department again!! So - after 2 calls to technical and 3 calls to accounts department, the supervisor FINALLY came back with an answer that my ADSL account had simply been deleted off the system - and no one knows why. It was labelled a "system fault", and I had to call SALES to re-instate it. The supervisor said he would send an email to SALES and ask to re-instate with no additional cost on the same credentials as it was a Telkom fault. I called SALES, and was told it will take 7 working days and have no email from accounts but do see the recognition that it is a telkom fault - no one can fix a problem they (Telkom) had created?! Left at that and expecting my ADSL to come back online, I discover on Saturday 25th May that not only is my ADSL still not working, but now my phone line is dead as well - so now my entire account is deleted somehow.

It clearly seems that Telkom doesnt want customers since they simple delete them at random, then expect the client to apply for a NEW service, which leaves no history of good standing with them (I had my account for over 5 years!!!)

So being Saturday, of course Telkom accounts is closed, and nothing can be done. The whole weekend without a phone or internet.

I call on Monday, to discover that Telkom is WAITING FOR ME to give an authorization on a NEW phone number?? My first question is... why didn't Telkom call me and ask me.. but waited for me to call them?? Secondly, now my existing number is no more, and Telkom expects me to change ALL my details with everyone and business, since they cannot even re-instate my once existing service, but want to give me a new number? I am then informed that once the new number is activate (apparently now within 24 hours), I must call Telkom and ask them to change the new number back to my old number. So - why should I call Telkom and ask again, when they have admitted it being their fault of cancelling my account, but Telkom now expects me, as the client, to sort it out.

Clearly Telkom does not want clients - deleting at random and then giving NO ASSISTANCE WHAT SO EVER to get it reinstated.

Telkom expects me as the client to apply for a new service. Telkom expects the client to then call again and ask for my old number back. Telkom offers no compensation for the disruption and total disregard of a client of more than 5 years - not even an escalation for it to be reinstated sooner than later.. no - Telkom wants me to wait in the queue as a new client and apply from scratch.

Seriously - Telkom has issues and lack of basic customer service.

2 call centre personnel I spoke to were trainees, and fist had info wrong, then went on to tell me to call a different department.

I feel at that: 1. Telkom should have been able to identify the problem immediately without me trying to convince 2 different departments the whole time that there is a problem All I got was "Our system shows you are active..." or "Our system shows there is no fault"... until it is discovered that me ADSL account is actually deleted - WITHOUT a request from me.

2. Telkom should be able to reinstate my services with the same number without me having to wait so long (now 3 days already).

3. Telkom first suspended my ADSL account on 24 May claiming "non payment" for an invoice that came out on 13 May and was only due to be paid on 5 June, which I actually HAD ALREADY PAID IN ADVANCE!!!! Yet, Telkom suspends my account, then somehow the "system" deletes my account.

I cannot even begin to explain the frustration and anger towards Telkom for the blatant disrespect of their client, and the cheek that Telkom expects me, as the client, to fix a problem TELKOM CREATED!!!!!!

My account should not have been deleted in the first place.

If you dont want me as a client, then call me and tell me with at least some warning so that I can get another service provide... in fact, I think I will do that anyway - Im prepared to pay more to at least get good service and be treated like a valued client.

It is now Monday afternoon 4pm - and I will have NO phone line, a=and no internet, and NO indication from Telkom as to when they think my service will be restored.

Telkom deleted me off their system by mistake - so what are they doing to fix this???????

Reviewer Update
More than a month later - with still no call from Telkom or and help or any progress on restoring services, I told them to keep my account cancelled.

I no longer use Telkom. The service this time was severely bad - customer ignored and **** to (each person had a different explanation as to what the "system says" and how long a process takes.

Telkom account cancelled. Found a far better provider that is 1/3 of the price and 3x the data speed (wireless).
