Telkom defies the Constitution and Legislation
I posted a very posirive review about the Telkom Staff at Tygervalley branch (the one close to Mug and Bean) some time ago. They have a number of superstars there. I am still very positive about them.
I am extremely upset though as Telkom contract division/"***** detection division"/legal department decided to kill me as well. They abruptly ended my contract with them end of April 2022. There are no money outstanding at Telkom.
I did have a prepaid number that I then charged to at least be able to phone.
After a lengthy phone conversation with a Telkom help line assistant she inferred that something untoward or ********** happened on my account. She also referred to an incedent that I reported several years ago when I started with my Telkom contract where they debited the wrong account. She seemed toinfer that this was improper as well. She mentioned that I need to go to an office to supply them with information as required (I tried to do a sim swap in January 2022 when they could not find me on their system). I never received an activation for the new sim. I wanted to talk to someone in the legal department about this matter, but there was no way that I could get trhough to them using the number that the consultant gave me.
I decided to visit the Telkom branch at Tygervalley. The person their assisted me as best he could and was so kind as to phone me a few days later on my prepaid line saying that Telkom is not going to connect me again. I need to be live on the home affairs system - they cannot find me there.
A day or so after that Telkom disconnected my prepaid number as well.
I understand their confusion. Let me explain. My father passed away in July 2021. We have exactly the same names but of course different ID numbers. Mi ID was taken with his ID as part of the process to get a death certificate and to give permission for his cremation. What exactly happened is not clear at the moment. Home Affairs issued a death certificate for my father, but killed me on their system on the same date as the death of my father.I only discovered that months later when I went to my bank to get a new debit card. I was "deceased" and any transaction at the bank would be redflagged because the banks system would pick this up.
Furthermore I was in consultation with another bank to assist a homeless people to obtain banks from her bank account. In the end it seems that the funds of this person might have been obtained **********ly. It is possible, but I do not know this that this was linked to my telephone number.
My challenge here is that Telkom acted against the Constitution and two further acts as well which I will not go into detail now. The one clear aspect from the constitution is that I have the right to face my accusers. If they suspect me of ***** then I have the right to face the accusation.
The correct moral thing would be to at least go into a conversation with me- just an email would have sufficed to start the conversation or to at least say - we are stopping your contract now or in 30 days or whenever to give me a chance to make alternative arrangements.
The number that they have killed has been linked to me from the 1990's when I started with a contract. I later ported the number to Telkom. All my business connections since then would have that number. Any losses in this regard would of course only be linked to a civil claim against Telkom, but will probably not be worth the time and effort. I just want my number back.
Ona phone call to their office in Tygervalley I was told that they have terminated my contract prematurely, but they are still going to claim for the further number of months four or so that the comtract still had to run. Of course that is ridiculous, but that is not the intention to debate that here. The point is: they stole my number. They have terminated the contract ********ly.
Then Telkom cancelled my prepaid number with some credits of data and airtime on that. In my book that is theft. Two accounts of therft and one or more contraventions of the Constitution of South Africa and other legislation as well.
I want my numbers back. I want an apology. I want them to change their system that they do not do this to others inadvertently. I want my money back.
