Telkom Deducts Anytime Data for Night Surfer activity
I have had a SmartBroadband Wireless 10GB contract with Telkom for the past 6 months or so. This deal includes 10GB anytime data and 10GB night surfer data (12AM to 07AM). I was surprised when in the month of April 2018 my anytime data was depleted much sooner than usual even though we haven't used the router a lot during the day. We did however use our night surfer data quite a bit. Upon logging into my Mobile Telkom App, I realized that I still had my entire 10GB night surfer data. It was clear to me that Telkom deducted my anytime data instead of night surfer data for internet activity which took place between 12AM & 07AM. I requested a call back from Telkom and they phoned almost immediately. I explained what was going on and was then informed by the operator (Tracy), that I have to reboot my Wifi Router every evening at 12AM to make sure that the night surfer data kicks in. How ridiculous is that? I have never rebooted/reset my device for night surfer data to be activated. I asked the operator where in the terms & conditions, my contract or even the Telkom Website it advises one to reset/reboot the Wifi Router to enable night surfer data. The only answer I got was: "but mam, you have to reset/reboot the device". This means that I would have to also go to the portal every evening to setup my personalized password......WHAT??!! I told the operator that I want my "******" data reimbursed, upon which I was told that she could load some extra data for me and then bill me at the end of the month. Are you freaking kidding me? I obviously refused. I asked to speak to her manager who was unfortunately not available as it was weekend. I was however assured that the manager would phone me on Monday, 30 April 2018. I am still waiting for that call. Is it possible to cancel a contract on grounds of what I have just explained? I hate doing business with Telkom.
