Telkom deals are cheap for a reason

I have recently come to the realisation that when a customer selects Telkom Mobile as a service provider, the customer is NOT getting a good deal, but rather, is choosing to give up decent service for a few rands in the pocket. Not worth the stress.

I went into Telkom Mobile Canal Walk to get an additional phone contract, a process that should take 'a few minutes' according to the agent. Two weeks later, I am still waiting for the phone. In the interim, I have had to deal with the following.

1. An agent forgetting to complete the form properly.

2. 3 visits to the store, after receiving an sms that phone is ready only to realise that it is not.

3. An unbothered agent who says, he will call when he gets a chance.

4. A system/technical fault that means no progress can be made for a few days.

5. Agents who promise to call back in a few minutes, only to sound surprised when I call them back the next day.

6. Wasted time spent waiting for customer care agent to pick up.

My conclusion, the 'FreeMe' deal saving of a few rands not worth the effort. I shudder to think how bad service will be once I am locked into a contract!!
