Telkom data rip-off.

A word of warning to all you Telkom LTE users out there.

It would appear that Telkom is in the process of *****ing billions of Rands from the South African public through over-charging for data. Basically, what it looks like is happening is that Telkom is measuring data uploaded and downloaded in bits and charging for the equivalent number of bytes.

For those of you who are not computer literate, there are 8 bits to a byte. This means that you could be being charged for 8 times the amount of data that you actually consume. In other words, if you consume 128KB of data you could be charged for 1GB.

This applies particularly to streaming data, one of the biggest rip-offs in the world.

Shame on you, Telkom, for *****ing from the people who feed you.
