Telkom Data Contract Cancelled Yet Telkom Takes Me to Debt Collectors for a Cancelled Contract
Hello Peter I feel in prison when thinking about a Telkom data contract I opened and canceled within a month last Feb/March 2017. When realized that the internet connection was non-existence in my residential area, I went to Telkom Shop at Greenstone Mall to cancel my account. Take note that this is the very shop I opened the account, the store consultants where not very helpful. Luckily I requested a copy of the forms I filled in for cancellation so that I can be able to follow up if there are any problems together with a reference number.
Peter, Telkom probably took a debit after a month of canceling the contract and I let that pass because I was under the impression that the following month I will be out of their system given that I have canceled my data contract. To my surprise, Telkom was still debiting my account every month until on and around Sept using different reference numbers, different amounts, and different dates. Yes, I have followed up with Telkom cancellation dept with no joy.
This week I get an SMS that Telkom has taken me to debt collectors, a year down the line. Peter, why does Telkom expect me to pay for a service that I never received in the first place and for a contract I canceled last year? Where are my rights as a customer? I have documentation to proof cancellation and emails of engagement with Telkom yet no one at Telkom is keen to listen to my situation nor keen to cancel my contract.
Kindly assist urgently Peter, for the sake of my sound credit history which I have kept clean for all my working life.
Best Regards Grace
