TELKOM – CUSTOMERS FIRST ? ALWAYS TOO BUSY TO PROVIDE SERVICE

I called Telkom 10210 to follow up on a cancellation notice for a no longer needed second residential line. Had to wait more than 20 minutes for a human to answer. Then there was no acceptable explanation as to why 21 business days has expired and no response has been made to my request (apart from the automated reply). Then I was advised that 30 business days is required for cancellation. Why? Even under a fixed term agreement, the Consumer Protection Act Section 14 provides for 20 business days. And on month to month contracts (i.e. a calendar month period) one is entitled to give a month’s notice. Can someone explain this to me? Eventually the call centre supervisor promised action today. But the call duration finally exceeded 40 minutes. Supervisor says they are very busy and it is management’s problem he can do nothing. Who can spend this time following up for progress from a non service society ? Customers first my aspirin.
