Telkom consumes my data - New trick to dupe you into buying data!

We purchased a 40+40gb data on the 25th of May 2019 from Telkom (as we usually do every month). However, our data was almost finished within 2 weeks. I queried for a report to see usage and received history on data consumption. I was surprised to see data streams of 8gb and other high values which ran from one day right through the next day.

(1) With the consumption of data as such, I did not see any effect on this stream to the night surfer data. How so? The data stream stops at 23:59:59 and continues from 00:00:00. (2) I changed passwords regularly, and also checked if any other IP was using data which I did not know. This was not the case. (3) I switched off the router for almost day as we had been out, and more than 1.5gb data was gone. Does the sim card have a leak or something? Who knew this was possible. WOW!

I have been requesting feed back from Martin Dearman, a Telkom help center agent who was helpful to lodge the query. Emailed him many times and got no feedback after that. Today I spoke to a very *********** person on the help line who had no clue what she was doing. She said they sent me feedback, which I did not receive, up until now, stating that I should clear cache, reset passwords and check if anyone else is using the data. Telkom treat their clients as if we are idiots. If I did not check all of this first, I would not have lodged a query. Furthermore, how the heck can data be consumed if the router is off? Clearly the issue is not on my side. Going back into the history for the past few months, I noticed similar trend in large data streams of which I did not initiate.

Telkom clearly has no intentions of rectifying this, and also too lazy to do an actual check. Instead, they say I need to check if someone else is using the data. This is pathetic to say the least. This is how Telkom will get around the upcoming law of data not being allowed to expire. They will deplete it, not give valid explanations and blame you for the use. Then you are forced to buy data again and again.

And Telkom will probably respond with the usual ******* comment, and nothing actually gets done! So go with some other service provider and stay away from Telkom!
