Telkom charges for service never given.
Telkom has caused me allot of headache.
In December of 2017 I app**** for a Telkom ADSL line which was never installed. Apparently they were trying to reach met for installation, on a number that I no longer have. Incidentally this number was also not filled in on my application, so why thei use that number no one knows. This was a fault on Telkom side when the application was inserted onto their system.
After about a month I started querying why I had no feedback or line installation booked. On the first two calls they assured met that they would send a installation unit to my premises. On my third call to confirm that they would be with me the next day, the operator informed me that she does not understand it, but it seems that my application was cancelled due to them not getting in touch with me.
She asked if I would like to reapply on which I said no, due to the absolute bad service, lack of interest and bad organization from Telkom.
A month or so later I started receiving invoices from Telkom for the Internet line rental for this services. Here is where my headache starts.
I have been to the following stores to try and get this rectified. the number is to reference the times I visited the stores. Telkom store in WC - Cape Gate shopping centre x 1 (once at each store.) Telkom store in WC - Somerset mall x 4 Telkom Store in WC - Paarl Mall x 1 Telkom store in JHB - Cresta Shopping centre x 1 Telkom store in PE - Greenacres x 2 I have also made 4 or 5 calls(more like 7 or 8), and we all know how long these calls take. Each time I would visit a store, they would tell me that cancellations are not done in store and that I have to call telkom and some stores requested that I try online. Somerset Mall branch did eventually process a cancellation as well as Cresta. How do you cancel a service that you never got. During the calls they requested credit for the charge, that I got which also reflects on the invoice. They would then instruct me to go to the store to have the service cancelled. I give up.
The lady (Dorcas) at the Cresta Store was very helpful and the only pleasant part of the above experience. She sent my last cancellation and provided me with a copy of the cancellation for future reference. I have to say that since the cancellation was sent in, I have had no contact from Telkom. This cancellation was sent from a Telkom store on the 21st of January and still no luck.
So, now here we are, with them trying to charge me for a service that I cannot use or even access because it was never installed.
Now Telkom, I implore you to please get yourself together.
