Telkom Charged R4734.55 For Replacing Their Faulty Cellphone Within & Days!
My cellphone was due for upgrade in June. I upgraded a couple of months early after being told I would pay about R700 for early upgrade.
The cellphone I took was a Samsung A30S. This telephone was faulty and had problems with the bluetooth, so it was returned during the seven day return to shop period for exchange.
The Telkom shop in Richards Bay did not have any more stock of the A30S, so I took an A51 and we changed the contract to cover the slightly more expensive telephone (at R349 per month on FreeMe 1gig).
Tonight I see my telephone bill and they have charged me R4734.55 including VAT as a termination fee for exchanging the faulty telephone!
I am not prepared to pay for exchanging a faulty telephone, it was within the seven days return to shop for exchange period.
This is not acceptable.
