Telkom cannot provide

I took out a Telkom internet monthly data contract in July 2017 from Cape Town with the understanding that I would have coverage in Pealy Beach when I retired in a few months and moved there. There is no coverage in Pearly Beach and the R149 a month contract spiraled to R800 a month. They ***gy back off MTN, On 8 March 2018 I tried to electronically cancel this contract as the sales person assured me there was coverage in Pearly Beach. I pulled the sim card from the router and have never used it since. I expected to be billed another R149 as part of a 28 day cancellation fee. I have been into Blue Route to try and escalate the cancellation, spent hours on the phone to consultants and traveled from Pearly Beach to Herm**** 3 times in an attempt to cancel this contract. All I have had from the staff there is that the contact has now been canceled and I would get a refund, on all three visits. I am now being billed twice in a month for this supposedly canceled contract. On my first vist to Herm**** the sales person was surprised to even hear that I had been sold a contract which was to be used in Pearly Beach. He knew there is no coverage out there. The thought of selling a contract under false information from the Longbeach Mall, where I took out the contract did come to mind. Only one person has ever contacted me from Telkom to email me the cancellation form which was in March 2018, this I completed and sent back. Nobody has ever contacted me from Telkom again. I am a pensioner, and to be treated in such a manner by Telkom is unacceptable and gross abuse. I have suffered from the financial loss, costs of traveling and my time while Telkom pay no attention to the fact that I want this contract canceled, they cannot provide me with the service they promised as there is no coverage. My next action will be to contact ICASA and the Consumer Protector, to cancel the contract and get a refund which has now risen above R1000, an amount any pensioner who does not even get a State pension can afford.
