Telkom cannot process a mobile data contract cancellation in 12 months! Perhaps they need more time...

We cancelled one of our business mobile data contracts on 28 June 2017. In March 2018 we picked up that the amount was still debited on our account. We queried this and was told that it was indeed cancelled and that there was a credit note that had to be app**** to the account. The person at the call centre told us not to pay the account, as there was an amount of almost R12000 in credit. This was verified via email. We followed up in April and May, same story, but still debited to the account. Once again verified via emails. In May they discontinued all our accounts due to non-payment. Went into the Menlyn Branch two times, Thursday and Friday, to sort this out. Every time we were told that they would investigate and call us back. They never did. So, the third time, Monday, I went in and SCREAMED until the branch manager eventually came out to see me. She took the matter in her own hands and actually gave me some feedback. Apparently the cancelled account was never cancelled, but they would sort it out. I had some SMS feedback as well as emails that the problem had been identified and is being fixed and that a credit note will be issued. I had to pay the "arrears" (how ironic) and they switched on the internet again. This was in June. I wrote an email to her on the 12th of July to ask what was happening. She wrote back and said that a case was logged and she will follow up on it. No feedback, as always. Today, 19 July, they cut off the internet again. Once again a small business is without internet. An IT company, I may add. Tomorrow no-one will be able to work. Again. In June we couldn't work for a week. Imagine the losses we are suffering.

So, two things: If you want to get any response from Telkom, go into a branch and shout and SCREAM until someone in management attends to you. Do not talk to the staff behind the PCs at the service points. Does not work at all. And don't bother with the call centre. Toothless operators focused on collecting their salary at the end of the month.

Secondly, try as far as you can not to get anything from Telkom. In the branch, after my screaming fit, everyone came to me and congratulated me. They told me their stories, very similar to mine. No service. Pathetic response to resolving issues. The theme is consistent.

My father worked for Telkom for 43 years! His entire career. He must be turning over in his grave at what has become of his beloved company.

Ah, it just gets better. Now Telkom agrees that they are at fault, in writing, and refuses to give a credit as the "service was used". Well, as the contract was requested to be cancelled due to the device being ******, and not cancelled by Telkom, I must now pay even though they agree it is their mistake? This is a novel approach. And now our business is without data as: They no longer do ADSL in our area. There is no Fibre in our area, only LTE and the LTE is cancelled due to them owing us money. Figure that for logic! As everyone says: Hellkom must fall!!!!
