Telkom cannot give me back my own information

Hi tried to approach Telkom multiple times to obatin data/information that I lost in my SMS's when I lost my phone. No one has till date managed to give me a process that I can follow to obtain my own information. I know for the fact that all electronic communications has a retention period and they must be having a backup of my messages. All I needed is a copy of it and no one is williing to give me that
