Telkom cancelled my service without my permission
My adventure with Telkom started Sep 2018. My line was cut because my account was apparently in arrears - which it is was not. After pointing this via multiple means (telkom chat line, phoning in, going to Menlyn Telkom) out, and required to pay over R100 immediately (not reflected on my account though), Telkom restored my services (line and internet).
Then 16 Jan 2019 everything was cut again. I logged a fault, and phone line was restored. Except my internet access! After multiple calls and chats on chat line, it first seemed if my account was suspended; no one could tell me the reason. A number of visits to Menlyn telkom and telkom enquiries/chats someone saw that my service was asked to be cancelled in Sept 2018 and this order was merely executed now. I did not ask for any cancellation and it then appeared that someone in Telkom accounting cancelled my service on grounds of me being deceased. I have to put in an order again telkom told me, to reinstate my service (which I did).
Another visit to Telkom Menlyn and the friendly staff informed me that the new order is stuck because of credit vetting. I explained that I am alive, I did not ask for my service to be cancelled and I do not need to go through the whole process of applying, and especially not credit vetting becuase i am supposedly an exiting customer! Even more disconcerting is that the nice package I had with telkom will now be much more expensive when installed. (Well, this is one way telkom can get people off previous specials and on more expensive packages!) Anyway, Menlyn acknowledged that it was a telkom fault (I am alive and I did not ask for the cancellation) and tried to motivate speeding up the process - so I still have to go through the new order process and I still have no service. Interesting, my phone line was cut off again on 23 Jan 2019.
So goodbye Telkom, I am cancelling all my services with you despite being a loyal customer for almost 40 years.
