Telkom bogus bad faith contract
I am very disappointed in the recent contract I took from Telkom. On the 6th of November 2019 I went to Telkom in Kimberley at the Parvillion Mall. I wanted to take a contract for a wifi but the consultant convinced me to rather take something else because it is not advisable to take a wifi as the area I stay in does not have clear coverage. I ended up taking a contract for 2 phones (Y9 of R300 and P30 light of R360) the contract includes 1gig for all internet and 2 Gig for wassup and airtime. The consultant then told me that Telkom will only start deducting the R660 plus the R200 of sim card activation of both phones in December which I knew it to be an amount of R860. on The 7th December I got an sms from Telkom indicating that now on the 13th Telkom will be deducting an amount of R2064.16 which infuriates me because I cannot even imagine paying such a bogus amount of money, I still do not understand why I could not just pay my 1st instalment in November as I got paid on the 15th, they made it sound like it will only be what I saw advertised on the book and it will only be starting in December. the following day I called their customer care service and the lady that assisted me explained that the whole amount includes the subscription for November and December which amounts to R1320.00 plus the R99 of each simcard activation which should be R1520 and the remainder of the money Is for an open airtime which Telkom allowed me to use.
Now here is where I have a problem because I never informed about the extra amount of money, I was under the impression that I was only going to be paying R660 and R200 of activation for both phones in December. The consultant did not explain that there will be an extra airtime flowing in both phones, I did not agree to this and now on the 13th Telkom will be deducting R2064.16 which I do not have in this festive season.
I feel that I was blindsided, this contract was not done in good faith and I am now paying for **** I did not agree on. I am furious, defeated and humiliated as my family will not even have proper food in this festive season. Should I have known that I will go through this, I would have just gone to another credible outlet. The only thing that their so called customer care service could assist on was to cancel that stupid subscription, also indicating that for December it will still go on as I cancelled during the month already. I have no way of monitoring if I have exceeded the calls from Telkom as they only show minutes, and I wonder what kind of outlet is this where after exceeding the limit as advertised on the book then it does not cut or block. I hate it that I am in this situation and I'm now bounded by this bogus contract o else I would just go buy myself and my son a phone down the road by "myfriend" and get it over with.
